On Friday, during Friendly Friday, we’ll get to know each other and the city of Antwerp. We know that many people travel to Antwerp / Belgium on this day, so you can join whenever you like. We’ll share our live location in the Telegram group so you can find us.

Sint-Annastrand (Saint Anne’s Beach)

This time — like true Antwerp locals in summer — we’re gathering at ‘Sint-Anneke’: Antwerp’s beach. Besides enjoying the beautiful view of the harbour, we’ll also provide some toys for the beach and organise a treasure hunt.

Practical info

• We don’t have the beach to ourselves, so please keep that in mind.
• The beach is located along the shipping route towards the harbour, so besides the large boats passing by, there’s also a strong current — that’s why swimming in the water is prohibited. You are allowed to put your feet in the water, though.
• There are no supermarkets or shops in the immediate area of the beach, so come well prepared.
• In case of bad weather, we’ll move to GameState.
• The organisers will be present from around 4 p.m. Feel free to arrive earlier or join later.

Getting there

For those coming by car: there is plenty of parking available. Do note that Sint-Anneke lies within the low-emission zone.

From the city, the easiest option is the water bus from the Steenplein, which sails directly to Sint-Anneke. Other options include the pedestrian tunnel, but that’s quite a long walk. Normally the metro is also an option, but due to works on the tunnel under the Scheldt, a replacement bus is running at the moment. It’s rather slow and not really recommended.

You don’t need to buy a ticket for this activity: everyone is welcome to take part.
